Vikki Gray, Regional Safeguarding Lead, delivered a fantastic session on modern slavery and human trafficking. Modern slavery remains a significant safeguarding, inclusion health and health inequalities concern. Rising referrals, changing patterns of exploitation and the increasing use of digital technology make professional curiosity and trauma-informed practice more important than ever. Health and care services should ensure staff can recognise possible indicators, ask questions safely and understand local safeguarding, National Referral Mechanism and Duty to Notify pathways.
